‘The teacher intends to stimulate and develop the creativity inherent in every child in any subject or experimental context’. How do you offer a creative curriculum while ensuring you deliver what is set by the National Curriculum? This is where I believe it’s about having a strong subject knowledge in order to deliver inspiring lessons that promote a love of learning and development for all children as well as knowing your children and what will inspire and motivate them. The essence of a theme that will generate learning is one that both teacher and children can feel enthusiastic about and committed to, breaking down subject boundaries. Generating exploration through several different subjects, which when they are well planned with targets, outcomes, and purposes, help to motivate children. It is critical that these themes are authentic, with a shared interest, that they are capable of sustaining an allocated period of learning and are rich and stimulating for all.
