The Iliad, writing homework help: The Iliad in Book 9 Odysseus

The Iliad in Book 9 Odysseus, Ajax, and Phoenix come to Achilles tent representing Agamemnon and hoping to persuade Achilles to return to the fighting. Agamemnon chose each of them for a reason. Odysseus is smart and quick-thinking; Ajax is a great fighting man; and Phoenix mentored Achilles as a boy. Odysseus does most of the talking, but Ajax and Phoenix both have things to say, Summarize one point made by each of three men- an argument, a fact, a plea, and Idea. Achilles says many things: they don’t all go in the same direction but they add up to the reasons he won’t go back with them. Summarize one of Achilles’ important reasons for turning them down.
