In 2014, Obama proposed that DACA should be expanded and allow for older immigrants to be eligible for it, creating similar protection against deportation for the undocumented parents of the children. To no surprise, Republicans voted against this, leading to the Obama Administration being sued by 26 states. After these states won the case, a judge stopped the expansion of DACA meaning it was unable to go into effect. If this decision had been granted, around 4.5 million people would have then been protected from deportation. Obama had almost created a program which would have protected almost 50% of the estimated undocumented population. What kind of people say no to allowing people safety? Do these people want to see children be separated from their parents? Not allowing the parents of these children to be protected means that they run a higher risk of being sent back to their own country, either leaving their children behind or sending them back to the danger too. Any smart, responsible person can see that denying the expansion of DACA was achingly bigoted. Why would you want to put these poor people through the even more unpleasant hassle? Who in their right mind would want to run the risk of deporting a whole family?
