What factors contribute to the success of adopting cloud-based models?
Hybrid cloud is also secure compared to a public cloud system, even when the data is accessed over the internet. Virtual private cloud is introduced through Amazon Web Services, which has a secure and seamless integration between organizations existing infrastructure and Amazon public cloud. Even though it is meant for the general public, it is private in the aspect that the connection between IT legacy and cloud is secure through VPN (virtual private network), thereby having similar security setup like that of a private network. And, Amazon web services provide dedicated and isolated resources to the virtual private cloud. However, the public users do not need to pay up-front for these services. Inspired by the concepts of grid computing and cloud, a Community cloud is formed by collectively using the spare resources of networked personal computers collectively. It is an internet-based technology with the contributors sharing the same interests, policies, and values, but poses many challenges at different levels due to its complex nature.
Various factors such as Technology (Complexity and compatibility), Organisation (Top management support, firm size, and technology readiness), Environment (Competitive pressure, Trading partner pressure) contribute to the success of adopting to cloud-based models. Running enterprise solutions cost expensive. It can be less cost-effective even when run on cloud services using traditional ways. But running the solutions on a model using the elasticity of cloud services are cost-effective. Business managers will need to assess the security requirements and select a cloud deployment model suitable for their business. The deployment models are orthogonally linked to the services model and thus care should be taken to identify the suitable service model appropriate for the business. Cloud computing offers various advantages such as Cost Savings, Scalability/Flexibility, Reliability, Maintenance, Minimise licensing for new software, Innovation, etc.
