What has to be invested to make travelling at the speed of light possible?

It has been theorised that there is a side effect when travelling at the speed of light which is that your mass becomes infinite and you slow down. According to relativity, the faster you move, the more mass you have. It like when you’re driving a car you feel a bit more weight when driving a car as you feel a force pushing you back to your seat. So, imagine that happening when travelling at the speed of light you would feel a much greater force acting against you giving you the impression that you have gained more mass as you may feel heavier.

Now, it’s quite obvious that if we want to be talking about the possibility of travelling at speed, there would need to be a lot of money invested into the development of brand new devices that can conduct experiments to see if this is possible. Lots and lots of money will be invested and spent by many scientific researchers to have the tools to test something relatively close to the speed of light. Do you have a rough idea on how much could be spent on the development of light travelling devices?

Now, there may be the unfortunate conclusion of humans not being able to travel at the speed of light, but that doesn’t stop the development of human-made devices, robots and transport that can do so. At the moment there is a nano-starship that is being developed that can have the potential to reach one fifth the speed of light. The ship is called starship and is said that it could reach earth closest star system in 20 years. The device is work on by Nasa and Steven Hawkins as they have joined forces to create a starship that could start the creation of space transport for the future if all goes well enough. If it is a success, then imagine the future and the possible ships that could be made as maybe, just maybe, we may have found a solution to making space exploration a huge possibility if technology has advanced in the next thousand years.
