Blank slates – People are born as blank slates with no psychological drives and that we pick up our thoughts, attitudes, and behavior from those around us.
Learning – Everything we are and do has been learned from our interactions with the world. This happens when we make links to an event/stimulus this creates an action/response with the consequence as the outcome (the result of the behavior positive or negative).
ABC – Behaviour is learned through the process of ABC.
This could help to understand Jackie’s development and drinking behavior through the fact that all behavior is learned and that we learn through direct and indirect observation of others. Unfortunately for Jackie both, her parents were alcohol dependant which she witnessed from a young age, I think this would have become a norm for Jackie in her environment increasing the likelihood of her repeating/copying this behavior so could be a big factor in Jackie’s reason for being an alcoholic.
