First of all, I made sure that the balance is on the zero scale. Then I scaled my weighing boat and made a record of that in order to have the correct mass of sodium carbonate for my experiment. After transferring the sodium carbonate into the beaker, I scaled the weighing boat again to compare the mass recorded with the new mass in order to make sure nothing is lost while transferring.
Making precise measurement: in all laboratory experiments, it is essential to have a precise measurement for each substance, which is required for the experiment. Precise means how close your measurement is to the original scale you are aimed for. We can increase our precision by paying attention while measuring and using accurate equipment for measurement, also by increasing the sample size.
