Taking into consideration the consequences of bad education, let’s move onto look at job disparity between blacks and whites in America. The unemployment rate for blacks aged 18-27 is 26.6% is almost double the rate for the same age gap within whites at 13.5%; this is overall in America. This shows that they will have worse life opportunities, they won’t be able to have luxuries like a holiday, and may turn to crime to get by as they will struggle to pay rent and put food on the table. This is to blame on the lack of good quality and fair education. This results in a lack of opportunities in the workplace, as they have not gone to university to get into a high paid job. Once they leave school at a young age, they are pushed into low paid jobs which require little qualifications, which will force them into poverty as they will be paid minimum wage. This can have a negative effect on their children as being brought up in poverty often makes it difficult for learning, many children go without meals, having concentration difficulties and parents don’t have the same high expectations of their children compared to children who are not living in poverty. This will then lead to later social inequalities for BMEs regarding social status, challenging them for the remainder of their lives.
