• Since antiquity, many critics have rejected this book (as well as part of Book 23) as a later addition to the Odyssey.  Reasons for this rejection have included that this book is anticlimactic.  Can you think of any arguments in its support, i.e., ways in which it complements or helps complete the rest of the poem?
